Why should I seek Physical Therapy via Telehealth

Patients may find participating in physical therapy via telehealth easier due to a medical illness or a physical inability to travel to an outpatient clinic to attend their regularly scheduled physical therapy appointments.  Hence, Exemplar Physical Therapy has implemented a Telehealth program to evaluate and manage these individual’s loss of function of their muscles and joints via virtual therapy sessions from the comfort of their home or office.

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth allows those who do not wish to leave their house an opportunity to access a healthcare professional (such as a physician, physician assistant, nurse, midwife, physical therapist, occupational therapist) via a video conference or telephone call. Telehealth enables a physical therapist the ability to visualize and speak directly to their patients as they would for an in-clinic visit for the purpose of evaluation, progressing a current treatment plan, triage new pain / symptoms, and assist in developing an exercise program to address your individual issues and prevent decline.

Virtual therapy allows people of all ages to safely keep moving and address physical problems from the comfort of their own home. Unfortunately, injuries and pain do not go away during a pandemic, injury or illness, but Exemplar Physical Therapy is working to find ways to help.

Is Telehealth covered by my insurance?

Previously Telehealth was not covered by most medical insurances, however many insurance companies are now expanding their coverage to include  Telehealth coverage to improve healthcare access in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Because private insurance companies are independently choosing to cover various versions of Telehealth, specific to each carrier and patient’s insurance plan, we will verify your insurance benefits prior to your appointment.

Stacey is the BEST physical therapist and seeing her for my numerous pains is exactly what I needed. She has done so much to correct my posture, strengthen my back muscles and even correct the curvature in my spine. I know now that much of the pain I am experiencing is from accidents and injuries I had growing up, which have not come to the surface until now. What a blessing to have found Stacey and to be seeing her.

Stacey is the very best at what she does. My neighbor referred her, and I thank her for the referral any’ chance I get. Stacey is professional, knowledgeable and is devoted to fixing what is wrong and taking away the pain! She is compassionate, yet not afraid to push her patients to reach their full potential. Her goal is to make her patients whole and to allow them to resume their normal life. She succeeds, and I highly endorse her.

I was originally recommended to see Stacey for my shoulder after rotator cuff surgery. The shoulder was very painful and did not seem to heal correctly. I had better movement, but there was still a lot of pain despite getting several injections after the surgery. Turns out that I needed to have a second surgery to release the nerve which Stacey suspected.

After healing from the second surgery, 6 months later, I had extensive abdominal surgery which seemed to worsen my back and hip pain post surgery. So, I went back to Stacey to get some relief.
